Shayne Stoakes is a railroader at heart, born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho, where his love for complex machinery and nature began. With over thirty years of experience working for Union Pacific Railroad as a fireman/oiler and safety coordinator in the locomotive mechanical department, Shayne’s connection to railroads runs deep. As a self-taught artist, his personal interests, family, former occupation, and the scenic beauty of his surroundings provide endless inspiration for his work.
Shayne’s diverse range of subjects includes railroads, aviation, wildlife, landscapes, and portraits. He primarily works in acrylics and oils but also enjoys creating in pencil. His keen attention to detail and passion for precision allow him to capture his subjects with a remarkable sense of realism and a touch of nostalgia. Each piece transports viewers into a scene that evokes a connection with the past, the natural world, and memories of a bygone era.
